  1. Love the Barbie-Q par-tee this week, what a celebration! I posted what I will be bringing, it is best I not make anything nor share a recipe, LOL. I'll have to give a special story some thought - lots of failures to pick from. I'll eat slow to save some room for seconds. Blessings, Jane

  2. I am sooo excited to be able to join the party this week. We are partying at the lake...my favorite bar-b-que place! Hope everyone brought their bikinis and are ready for a dip in the water. :)

p.s. loving all of the MM creations this week!!

  4. Congrats to the winners. My favorite Bar-B-Que was when we had a surprise Bar-B-Que four years ago to celebrate my Dad's 75th birthday. We had family members coming from all over, Illinois, Florida, Mississippi, Virginia, South and North Carolina, we ended up having 238 people that weekend. My dad knew about the party but we told him it was a Family Reunion but everyone else knew it was for his birthday and THEY KEPT THEIR MOUTH SHUT, I think that is the biggest surprise. The funniest part is that he helped us fix things, clean, paint, grocery shop and cook for the party and when we brought the cake out and dropped the birthday banner, he was totally surprised the party was for him and it is one of the two times I seen my dad cry. It was the best party ever!

  5. I've got the watermelon! :) My dad loves a good BBQ. During the summer, he has been known to fire up the grill every weekend. I remember putting that stinking grill together. Hours of "Where does this go?" and "Where did tha screw go?" Fun times! I wish I was a scrapper then...I would have taken so many pictures.

Bobbi - How on earth were you able to get that many people to not spill a secret? Wow!

  6. congrats to all the winners. I love BBQ's but here in Scotland we don't get the weather to have very many. In fact, we got married 6 years ago and got a gas barbie as a wedding present - we have used it ONCE!!!! How disgraceful is that? Must try to find the pic of our friend cooking the food under a gold brolly while was watched through the patio doors

  7. Happy BBQ party, everyone! Aren't those cards, creations amazing?! Here is a fav recipe, my mom's Superb Potato Salad. Just right for a picnic. We put a firepit in our backyard and just can't get enough of sitting around the fire and eating meals out there.
Boil, cool and cube 7 medium potatoes. Hard boil and dice 3 eggs.
Mix together, cook and stir till thick the following:
    1/2 c. milk, 1/4 c. sugar, 1/4 c. vinegar, 1 egg, 1 T. cornstarch, 3/4 t. celery seed, 1/4 t. dry mustard, 1/2 t. salt, 1 T. dry minced onion. Remove from heat and blend in 1/4 c. mayo. Cool.
Gently fold with potatoes and eggs.
This is one delicious potato salad, just right for a BBQ!! Glad you are bringing the watermelon, CrystalBee, LOVE watermelon!!

  8. my favorite part of a BBQ is having family around; seem to just not get enough of them any more ~ we just had a BBQ last week-end for Mother's Day ~ menu was basic stuff, potato salad, macaroni salad, brownies mmmmmmmmm!, fiesta salsa, and HANDS DOWN my FAV --- home-made Mike's Hard Lemonade!!! mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ;-)

  9. LOVE these cards & projects! So cute! Thank you for the fun dance party last week and for a door prize! I'll be wearing my costume every time I dance. LOL! I just put my mom's chocolate sheet cake on my blog (click on my name, I think!). Hope some of you bring some gluten free foods so I can enjoy them. ha, ha!

  10. Hmmmmmm, maybe I'm supposed to go on a diet & not eat at the bbq b/c my post didn't quite show up. LOL! Thanks for the great dance party last week AND for the door prize! I've posted my mom's chocolate cake recipe on my blog for y'all to try. BTW, I'll have to join all of you for bbq as I am married to the ONLY man in Texas who doesn't bbq. I think that's illegal. tee-hee!

  12. Oh goodness... thank you so much for the honor of Midnight Madness Remarkables!!! Thanks also to the DT for these fantastic samples!!! WHat fun! I do love BBQs! What I love the BEST about them is that my hubby does the cookin!!! LOL! He handles the grill... I just do the extras... the salads, veggies, etc. My best BBQ memory was when our DD turned 16. We invited so many people they were all over the front and back yards, in the house, people everywhere! Nowadays, my favorite place to have a BBQ is on our pontoon boat. Our grandkids come each summer and we go to a sandbar and beach it. They play around in the sand and my hubby cooks. I sit and enjoy since the rest of the work was done before we left! :) Hope everyone is enjoying the party!

  16. WOW, all these BBQ stories are great and some more recipes!!! Whoo Hoo! BBQ is right up our alley living in the FL sunshine (so if Shazza wants to come over from Scotland you are more than welcome), and I have to agree with Grace about the best part being that Hubby does the cooking!! I love that!! LOL
I even enjoy having a BBQ on our boat....it may be a small grill but there's nothing like eating the good stuff while floating on the water!! Peace and good cooking!
Look forward to hearing more BBQ stories! Off for some watermelon....thanks for bringing it along CrystalBee!

  18. I remember when I was a little girl, my aunt and uncle lived on a river front house with a little beach. So good in the summer to have a BBQ with homemade potato salad, BBQ'ed chicken, hamburgers and hot dogs. Lots and lots of watermelon to finish it all off. This takes place in Michigan. Congrats to the winners and until the next post...

  23. We spent the weekend at a National BBQ contest in Memphis Tennessee. My brother-in-law was on a team. Boy did we eat good. He entered the shrimp competion for the first time and scored 23 out of 95. Not bad for the first time. Of course we got to sample and they were #1 in our book. You can see a picture on my blog.

  25. Beautiful cards from everyone!!! I'm not a picnic person but we had tons of them growing up with my Mom's huge family. Wonderful food, my aunt used to make us breakfast at the State park over looking the Mississippi river and it was so good cooked over an open fire in a cast iron skillet.

  28. Funny experiences with the BBQ - well the one that probably sticks in my mind the most is when we went to the safari park and took a portable BBQ. The car overheated in the tiger enclosure so we had to be escorted out and the portable BBQ then underheated (well took so long) that we had to eat all the other stuff first while we waited for the food to cook - we were all so hungry after our adventure!

  29. My goodness what a great sketch and the DT cards are gorgeous as usual! I LOVE barbeques! A grilled hamburger and grilled corn on the cob and family time is one of my favorite things to do! Oh and don't forget the potato salad!!!

  33. Another awesome party idea!! There is no better way to get to know your neighbors than to have a neighborhood BBQ! Every fall I try to get the neighbors together and not only do we Bar-B-Q but we also do those fun fall things like sack races & bobbing for apples. Since we don't see much of each other during the winter months ... everyone comes, pitches in and has a great time!
I bet this group of fun-filled ladies would be a hoot to get together ... that's it ... you are all invited to the next fall Bar-B-Q. Thanks for the fun!!

  34. Fabulous sketch and fun party!! BBQ...well living in NC lets just say we do this and eat BBQ quite a bit. And I wouldn`t even try to say what state has the best!!!! Such fun!! Thanks for all you do! Hugs, Judi

  35. In addition to no calories at our BBQ, we also have no ants! Why is it that wherever there is a BBQ...ants are never too far behind? Did they get an invitation? And just who sent that invitation? ;) Just something to ponder as the ants march off with our food. :)

    Hugs,
    Crystal

  36. Hello my friends! First I would like to say I am not a bad person by any means but....I am the type of person who laughs first and shows concern later. Yup I'm that person who will crack up if I catch you falling down but will run to your rescue when I'm finished busting a gutt. Well one of my all time funniest babeque memories was when I had my entire family over for a reunion. I placed the picnic table in the shade on the edge of the woods and everyone was satisfied with it's shelter from the sun. Good food, good people what's missing? oh ya lots of laughs. The picnic table was overflowing with food and drink and every inch of the benches was occupied that is until the picnic table broke in half and my family all fell to the ground legs flailing, drinks spilling, food flying and of course lots of cursing. Well I NEVER EVER laughed so hard in my life!!! I couldn't control my laughter and drag myself off the ground to help my poor mother. I know I'm sorry. I hope you don't think any less of me. Hee Hee

  43. Priscilla, I'm in LOVE with your fabulous creation!! I just squeaked mine in for the week. Don't want to lose my Royal Princess Status you know!! I'm sorry I couldn't make it to the BBQ. I was having so much fun at the dance party - guess I got too tipsy and couldn't make it to the BBQ. You know how that can happen!! I just linked my card which is showing that silly thumbnail again. Ugghhh ... why is it only MY card that happens to. Sometimes it fixes itself. Let me know if I need to re-upload.
Beautiful designer cards this week too and so many winners. Woo Hoo!
