Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge #34 (MMSC34)

Congratulations to our January Guest Diva........

Grace Nywening

Hi there!

I am so excited and honored to have been asked to be the January 2010 Guest Designing Diva for the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge! I have been a big fan of this challenge ever since I first discovered it! I can’t think of a more exciting way to start off the New Year!

I have been married to my HS sweetheart for going on 39 years. He’s a wonderful man who has always supported me in whatever endeavor I was involved with. We were married after our first year of college, and finished the last three years together as married off campus students at LeTourneau University. We are the parents of one sweet daughter and two adorable grandkids. We have been so blessed!

I have worked as a retail manager, owner and then in new home sales for many years. Due to a very serious accident and fibromyalgia which seemed to be triggered by the injuries, I now find myself staying home and filling my time with what I love… paper crafts!

I have been a crafter for most of my life. I love quilting, tole painting, sewing, all sorts of needle crafts, home décor … but when I found card making, it definitely became a passion! My journey with paper crafts started back in the 1990s while on a Christmas shopping trip to NH. My hubby saw a heat embossing demonstration in a store and came to get me because he knew I would love it! Well… enabler that he is… the rest has been history! (I sometimes wonder if he knew then what he knows now… especially how much this hobby would cost… would he still take me to see that demonstration. LOL!) I started out making Christmas tags, then some scrap booking when our first Grandchild was born, but when I discovered cards, there was no going back!

I am so excited to be here, and I want to thank the Midnight Madness Team for allowing me the honor to Guest Design this month! I’m still on cloud 9!

Grace, we are thrilled to have you joining us for the month of January...
And Thank you Cabio for your wonderful work throughout Dec and for being our Diva this last month.
It was fun getting to know you better.
We are now on the search for Our Feb Guest Diva. Let us know if you are interested.

Midnight Madness by Priscilla MMSC33

Well hello all, I hope this finds you all healthy, happy and getting ready for another wonderfully festive holiday season. This week for the Midnight Madness sketch challenge #33, I thought I would take a step back to my Stampin Up days and create some replica cards for gift giving (I call it pumping out the cookie cutter cards) I made over 50 cards using a few different images and styles. I just recently bought a case (100 count) of these very cool clear stationary boxes. I had to buy 100 to get the good price, plus that is the only way you can buy them 100 or more..LOL If anyone wants to buy a few off of me, just let me know. They hold 5 cards and 5 envelopes really nicely and are very fun to decorate with a matching belt. I will be spending some time in the future making up some card set for a lot of the holidays through out the year. Oh the possibilities.. My mind is already swirling with ideas for Valentines Day gifts sets. The set I am sharing with you today are all made with images from iTkUiLLi. Her images really inspire me. I am getting a “Wacom Tablet” from Santa this year and can’t wait to try and create some of my own abstract and art images. Who knows what 2010 will bring, but I am looking forward to dabbling in many new areas of the arts. I have been thinking about venturing out and trying some new techniques soon. Stay tuned for my very first “Tear Bear” card coming next week and then I am going to even give paper quilling a try. I may even do some scrapbook pages with these new techniques :)  So much to learn and so little time! I can’t wait to share all I learn with you. What are you going to do to stretch your creative and artistic abilities in the coming year???? Please share with me, I would love to hear.

Thank you for stopping in today and have a Merry Christmas.

Mid Week Midnight Madness "No Sew Quilted Ball Ornament" by Priscilla

How to make a Quilted Christmas Ball Ornament....
If you are looking for the current Midnight Madness sketch challenge

As promised, I am going to show you how I made my quilted ball ornament. It is a fun project and I hope you enjoy my tutorial.

They are many patterns and ways to make these types of no sew quilted ornaments and today I am going to show you one of the easier ways.

Here are the supplies that you will need.
1 - 3 inch Styrofoam ball
A bunch of straight pins with flat heads
Hot glue gun
About a foot to a foot and a half of Ribbon
24 squares of material (2 ½ inche square)
Optional but recommended- Flowers/charms/decrative brads etc.

Begin by taking one of your squares and push a straight pin through the center of wrong side and then pin it to the ball.

Fold in half to form a rectangle and then fold one side down and pin in place at the bottom.

Repeat on the other side of the rectangle and place 4 pins along the bottom edge To save pins, I used only one pin for the center bottom the

Repeat all of  the above right next to the first one.

Repeat 2 more times so you  have your completed center. It should take 4 squares to complete.

Continue with the same folding pattern but start the second row approximately 1/2 way down from your first four you completed. You will continue this pattern all the way around the ball starting each new square on the fold lines and the connecting edges of the first four squares.

You have now used up 12 squares and completed one side of your onament.

Find the center of the ball on the opposite side and repeat all of the above until you have two completed side.

Trim off any loose material and use some hot glue to attach your ribbon. The ribbon is meant to conceal the material ends and flat head pins. With the extra ribbon ends, form a loop to create your hanging element. You can tie it in a knot and tie a bow like I did.

Then add your own special touches to your project and embellish any way you like.
Make it your own and have fun with it.

I made a complete gift set with card and a "priscillastyles" envelope.
Thank you so much for stopping by to check out my tutorial.

Merry Christmas Everyone :)
